Terms of Service

Effective May 7, 2026

These terms govern your use of Nilove. Joining the waitlist or creating an account means you accept them. Please read carefully — they cover what we promise, what we expect from you, and how disputes get handled.

1. Eligibility

Nilove is for adults building intentional connections within the East African diaspora. To use Nilove you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Be legally able to enter into a binding contract where you live.
  • Not have been previously removed from Nilove for violating our Community Guidelines.
  • Not be a registered sex offender.

We reserve the right to verify any of the above and to refuse service if we cannot.

2. Your account

You agree to provide accurate information during onboarding (your real first name, your real birthday, your actual photos) and to keep that information current. You may have only one account at a time.

You’re responsible for the security of your phone number, since SMS one-time codes are how we authenticate you. If you lose access to your number, contact us before someone else uses it to take over your account.

3. How you use Nilove

You agree not to:

  • Use Nilove for any commercial purpose — no advertising, soliciting, recruiting, or fundraising.
  • Impersonate anyone, misrepresent your relationship to anyone, or use someone else’s photos.
  • Harass, threaten, defame, or sexually harass other users.
  • Share another user’s photos, messages, or profile content outside Nilove without their explicit permission.
  • Scrape, copy, or systematically extract data from Nilove.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive source code from the app.
  • Use automation, bots, or fake accounts.
  • Try to circumvent our safety features (block, report, daily caps).
  • Engage in any unlawful activity through Nilove.

Our Community Guidelines expand on what good behavior looks like. Both this section and the Guidelines are part of these Terms.

4. Your content

Your photos, bio, prompt answers, and messages are your content. You keep full ownership.

By posting content to Nilove, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute that content within Nilove for as long as your account is active. We use this license only to make the app work — show your profile to compatible matches, deliver your messages, etc. We don’t use your content for advertising or sell it to third parties.

You confirm that you have the right to post any content you upload (your photos are of you, you’re entitled to share them, etc.).

5. Subscription, fees, and refunds

Nilove is currently free. If we introduce paid features, we’ll provide clear pricing and terms before any charge. You can cancel a paid subscription at any time, with or without reason. Refunds, if any, are issued at our discretion or as required by applicable law.

6. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time, without notice, if we believe you’ve violated these Terms or our Community Guidelines, or if your behavior puts other users at risk. We don’t do this lightly. Where it’s safe, we’ll tell you why.

You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Settings → Delete account. Deletion removes your profile and message history from our active systems within 24 hours.

7. Matches are not guaranteed

Nilove introduces people who might be a fit. We don’t guarantee you’ll match, that any match will respond, or that a match will lead to a relationship. The quality of your experience depends on you and the people you meet — we make no promises about either.

8. We don’t conduct background checks

We do not run criminal background checks on our users. We rely on phone verification, community reports, and our review tools to keep Nilove safe — but we cannot guarantee the truth of any claim a user makes, or guarantee your safety in conversations or in person. Use your own judgment, especially when meeting offline.

9. Disclaimers

Nilove is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Nilove and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of the app — including emotional distress, loss of data, or harm caused by another user. Our total liability will not exceed the greater of USD $100 or the amount you have paid us in the past twelve months.

11. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold us harmless from claims, damages, and expenses (including attorneys’ fees) arising from: (a) your use of Nilove, (b) your violation of these Terms or our Community Guidelines, or (c) your violation of someone else’s rights.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute that the two of us cannot resolve will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to that jurisdiction.

13. Changes

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be announced in the app and at the top of this page. Continuing to use Nilove after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
