Privacy Policy

Effective May 7, 2026

This policy explains what information we collect when you use Nilove, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We try to keep it short and human.

What we collect

When you sign up, we collect the information you give us so we can run the app — and only what we need to make matching work.

Account & profile

  • Phone number — used to send you a one-time login code via SMS. We never display your phone on your profile.
  • Profile data you enter during onboarding: first name, optional last name, birthday, gender, location (city + region), heritage country, religion, observance, languages, occupation, bio, prompt answers.
  • Photos you upload to your profile.
  • Discovery preferences — what you tell us you’re looking for.

Activity

  • Likes, passes, matches, and messages between you and other users.
  • Reports and blocks you submit, including the reason and any details you write.
  • Profile views — which profiles we’ve shown you, used to enforce daily caps and avoid showing the same person twice.

Device & technical data

  • Push notification tokens from your device, used only to send you Nilove notifications.
  • Session data from logging in (timestamps, refresh tokens) so you don’t have to sign in every time you open the app.
  • Diagnostic logs when something goes wrong — we keep these short and don’t link them to your name.

How we use it

  • To run the app — show you compatible profiles, deliver your messages, send you OTP codes when you sign in.
  • For safety — review reports, investigate harassment, enforce our Community Guidelines, identify fake or duplicate accounts.
  • To communicate with you — about your account, important changes, and rare service updates. We don’t send marketing emails to your provided login number.
  • To improve Nilove — understanding usage in aggregate so we know what to fix.

Who sees your information

Other Nilove users

Your name, age, photos, location (city + region only), bio, prompts, and identity attributes are visible to other users who are mutually interested. We never show your phone number, email, exact location, or birthday.

Service providers

We use a small set of vendors, each with their own privacy commitments:

  • Supabase — our database and authentication infrastructure.
  • Twilio — sends your one-time login code via SMS (Twilio Verify).
  • Expo — delivers push notifications to your device.
  • Vercel — hosts our marketing website (this page).

These providers process your data on our behalf, only for the purposes described in this policy.

Law enforcement & legal requests

We will disclose information when we’re legally compelled — a subpoena, court order, or other lawful process. We push back on overbroad requests where appropriate, and we don’t voluntarily hand data to third parties.

How long we keep it

  • While your account is active — we keep your profile and message history so the app works.
  • After you delete your account — we remove your profile, photos, prompts, likes, matches, and messages from our active database. Some references may persist briefly in encrypted backups (typically 30 days) before they roll off.
  • Reports and safety logs — we retain these longer (up to 24 months) for moderation purposes, even if the reporter or reported account is deleted.
  • Legal & compliance records — kept for as long as the law requires.

Your choices

  • Edit your profile at any time from Profile → Edit Profile.
  • Pause your account — temporarily hides you from discovery without deleting anything. Profile → Settings → Pause.
  • Delete your account — Profile → Settings → Delete account. Removes your data from active systems within 24 hours.
  • Block someone — they can never contact you again, even if they create a new account with the same number.
  • Manage notifications — your phone’s system settings let you mute or disable Nilove notifications at any time.
  • Request your data — email us at the address below and we’ll send you a copy within 30 days.

Children

Nilove is for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. We verify date-of-birth at signup; if we discover an account belonging to someone under 18, we delete it.

International transfers

Nilove is hosted in the United States. If you use the app from outside the US, your information will be transferred to and processed in the US. By using Nilove, you consent to that transfer.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your data: encrypted connections, encrypted-at-rest storage, row-level security in our database, hashed authentication tokens. No system is perfect — if we ever discover a breach affecting your account, we’ll notify you promptly with details.

Changes

We update this policy when our practices change. Material changes will be announced in the app and at the top of this page. The “Effective” date above shows the current version.
