Child Safety Standards
Effective May 11, 2026
Nilove is built for adults seeking serious relationships within the East African diaspora. We have zero tolerance for the exploitation or abuse of children on our platform, and we take active steps to prevent, detect, and respond to any child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) or child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
Our commitment
Nilove prohibits any content, conduct, or behavior that sexually exploits or endangers a minor. This includes — but is not limited to — CSAM, the grooming of minors, sexualized depictions of minors, sextortion, attempts to contact minors for sexual purposes, and the trade or solicitation of CSAM.
Any account engaged in such conduct is permanently banned, the relevant data is preserved as evidence, and we report to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and cooperate with law enforcement as required by law.
Minimum age requirement
Nilove is for users 18 years of age and older. We enforce this requirement through the following measures:
- Age gate at onboarding. Users must enter their date of birth during signup. Anyone under 18 is blocked from continuing and no account is created.
- Phone based identity. Signup requires a valid mobile phone number, verified via one time SMS code. This creates accountability and makes anonymous account creation difficult.
- Community guidelines. Our Community Guidelines explicitly require all users to be 18+, prohibit content involving minors, and warn that misrepresentation of age results in permanent removal.
- Reactive removal. Any account credibly suspected of belonging to a minor is suspended immediately while we investigate.
Prohibited content and conduct
The following are absolutely prohibited and result in immediate account termination and, where applicable, reporting to authorities:
- Any depiction of a person under the age of 18 in a sexual, suggestive, or exploitative manner
- Solicitation of, or attempts to contact, minors for any sexual purpose
- Sharing or trading of CSAM in any format, including text, images, video, or external links
- Grooming behavior, including attempts to gain a minor's trust for the purpose of exploitation
- Sextortion, including the threat of sharing intimate imagery to coerce or control another person
- Misrepresentation of age — either being a minor pretending to be an adult, or an adult posing as a minor
- Live streaming or recording of child abuse
Reporting child safety concerns
Anyone — whether a Nilove member, a third party, or law enforcement — can report a child safety concern using any of the following channels:
In app reporting
Open any profile or conversation in the Nilove app, tap the safety icon, and choose Report. Reports of suspected child safety violations are prioritized by our team and reviewed within 24 hours.
Email support@nilove.app with the subject line Child safety concern. Please include as much specific information as you can: usernames, phone numbers (if known), screenshots, dates, and a description of the concern. We respond to child safety reports within 24 hours.
For law enforcement
Law enforcement officers seeking records, preservation of evidence, or emergency disclosure may contact support@nilove.app with official documentation. We respond to verified law enforcement requests within one business day and to genuine emergencies as quickly as practicable.
How we respond
When a credible report of CSAE or CSAM is received, we take the following actions:
- Preserve evidence. The reported content and associated account metadata are preserved before any deletion occurs.
- Suspend the account. The reported account is suspended immediately to prevent further harm.
- Report to NCMEC. Where the content qualifies as CSAM under U.S. law, we file a CyberTipline report with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, as required by 18 U.S.C. § 2258A.
- Cooperate with authorities. We respond to valid legal process from law enforcement and provide all relevant noncontent data under our policies. Where compelled by law, we provide content data as well.
- Permanent ban. The user is permanently barred from creating new accounts on Nilove, including via the phone number, device identifiers, and any other reasonable indicators we have available.
- Removal of associated material. All CSAM is removed from our systems after the relevant preservation period required by law has elapsed.
Prevention measures
Beyond reactive responses, we actively work to prevent harm:
- Account level enforcement. Our admin team reviews every report and acts on confirmed violations within 24 hours. Repeat violations escalate quickly to permanent bans.
- Trust signals. Phone OTP authentication discourages anonymous, throw-away accounts. Profile photos must show a real human face. Bios and prompts that reference age inappropriately are flagged.
- Block tools for users. Every Nilove member can block another user at any time. Blocked users cannot message, match with, or see the blocker's profile.
- Education and transparency. Community guidelines are presented during onboarding and accessible at any time from inside the app and from our website.
Compliance and legal obligations
Nilove complies with all applicable laws governing the protection of minors, including:
- United States. 18 U.S.C. § 2258A (electronic communication service provider reporting to NCMEC), the PROTECT Act of 2003, and the SAVE Act / Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act where applicable.
- European Union. Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 and its predecessor Regulation (EU) 2021/1232 on the temporary derogation from certain provisions of the ePrivacy Directive for the purpose of combating online child sexual abuse, where applicable to users in EU member states.
- United Kingdom. The Online Safety Act 2023 and its accompanying Codes of Practice, where applicable.
- Canada. An Act respecting the mandatory reporting of Internet child pornography by persons who provide an Internet service (S.C. 2011, c. 4), where applicable.
We additionally cooperate with international child protection bodies and authorities upon receipt of valid legal process, including INTERPOL, EUROPOL, and equivalent regional bodies in the East African countries that Nilove serves.
